This year’s TT festival on the Isle of Man saw an enhanced Subaru WRX STI set a new four-wheeled lap record.

Piloted by Mark Higgins, who you’re most likely to have seen strutting his stuff as a stunt driver in James Bond movies, the modded Scooby first broke the old record on the Saturday of TT week.

But two days later, it was back out on the route – where Higgins posted a time of 17 minutes and 35.139 seconds.

That equates to 128.73mph. A subsequent run, in which Higgins was aiming to beat 130mph, had to be abandoned after a fatality led to the race being red-flagged.

But by then he had been clocked through the fastest part of the TT route at a monstrous 168.6mph.

Since setting the new record, Subaru has published some eye-popping video footage from both inside and outside the car. It makes for enthralling viewing.
