Retail words of the week: Xbox, Justin Bieber, Cudo

Retail search terms around the world with the largest increase in hits for the week ending November 20 according to Experian Hitwise.*

Trilogy organic rosehip oil was recently named the 'best organic anti-ager' in the November publication of Harper's Bazaar. The anti-aging treatment, which retails for around £14.95 (17.65€), was one of the most popular search terms amongst UK internet users. Other popular search terms were " cheap TVs for sale," "used furniture Enfield" and "Justin Bieber tickets UK." The American teenage singing sensation, who has over 15,801,601 Facebook fans, will be playing in the UK from March 4.

In anticipation of the unofficial start to the shopping season known as "Black Friday," Americans were turning to the internet to search out bargain deals on games consoles. Popular search terms included " xbox 360 elite," the Nintendo " dsi xl bundle" and "cyber Monday 2010," a reference to large online sales that occur the Monday following Black Friday. Outside of the USA UK shoppers were also hoping to find some bargain online deals with "amazon black Friday," a popular search term.

In Singapore internet users were searching for home theater and stereo speakers with "sonicgear array 2000 soundbar" and " pure evoke flow speaker," both popular search terms. The Sonicgear Soundbar, designed for use with home cinema systems features five separate speakers and retails for around 300€.

In Australia the majority of internet searches related to group deal and discount sites such as " catch of the day," " cudo" or " deals direct." Cudo works on a similar basis to international group purchasing site Groupon: deals are made available and provided enough people purchase it then everyone benefits - if not enough members purchase the deal then no one benefits.
