Writing letters to Santa is so 2009; after all, he's always far too busy to reply.

This year the jolly man in red has been brought into the modern age thanks to Google's telephone service and communications manager, Google Voice.

Google has set up a new service for the holidays that lets you create and send a personalized phone call from Santa to any kid (or adult) you know.

"There are hundreds of options to choose from, so you can send unique, customized phone calls to anyone you know, from your nieces and nephews to old college friends, over the phone (to US numbers only) or via email, Facebook or Twitter," says Google.

Ready to impress your kids or surprise a co-worker? Head to Google's "Send a Call From Santa" site, http://www.sendacallfromsanta.com/.

You can also track Santa's journey around the globe on Google Maps (via your computer or mobile phone) on December 24 by visiting http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html.
