Six-year-old boy asks dad for a loan to buy a toy and gets great reponse

'We regret to inform you at this time that we are unable to provide a loan'

A father has responded to his six-year-old son's request for an advance of his pocket money with a comically formal letter.

The six year-old boy from St Louis, Missouri, had hoped to buy a toy with an advance of $20 (£13.90) from his parents.

His father's reply in letter-form included a professional-looking letterhead, with a strapline reading as: "Savings and Loan because, apparently I look like I'm made of money."

After being posted on Imgur by sonan303, the photograph has been viewed over 3,670,000 times.

The letter reads as follows: "We regret to inform you at this time that we are unable to provide a loan in the amount requested of $20.00.

"After reviewing your account, we have find you have insufficient funds, and a history of not doing your chores."

He continues: "This is an unsustainable amount of expenditure, and we cannot further compound the problem by financially assisting with occurring further debt at this point.

"If you would like to refute this decision, you can contact our complaint department at [Mom’s number].

"Our dispute manager at this number may be able to persuade us to reverse our decision."

It is unclear if the son has chosen to challenge the decision with the "complaint department".
