Women's World Cup starts on Friday 7 June

The England women's national football team are up against tough competition at this year's Fifa Women's World Cup in France.

The group stage of the tournament will see the Lionesses take on Scotland, Argentina and Japan before 16 national teams reach the knockout stage.

Here's everything you need to know about watching this year's Women's World Cup:

When does it take place?

The tournament starts on Friday 7 June and ends on Sunday 7 July.

What television channel is it being shown on?

Coverage of the Women's World Cup will be made available across BBC TV and radio.

Matches will be broadcast across BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, BBC ALBA and on the BBC Red Button.

They will also be available to watch online via BBC iPlayer.

When is England playing?

The Lionesses, who are in Group D, are due to play Scotland on Sunday 9 June at 5pm, Argentina on Friday 14 June at 8pm, and Japan on Wednesday 19 June at 8pm.

Showcase Cinemas across the UK will be screening all England and Scotland matches for this year's Women's World Cup.

You can find Showcase Cinemas in Bristol, Leeds, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Glasgow and Liverpool, in addition to many other locations.

The Book Club

The East London bar is celebrating the Women's World Cup as part of its "Festival of Football", a month-long exhibition in honour of women's football.

Head on over to Leonard Street in Shoreditch to support the Lionesses as they embark on their first three matches of the tournament.

Boxpark Croydon is opening its doors to football fans during the Women's World Cup, screening all three of England's first matches.
