Black Friday is big business in the US; and while discounts can be found on Apple goods at other major retailers – including Target, Best Buy, Sam’s Club and Staples — Apple itself tends not to go in for huge discounts on its own signature products like the iPhone and iPad.

However, on Black Friday, not even Apple is immune from the shopping phenomenon.

The company will offer free iTunes gift cards of between $25 and $100 on certain products including some iPhones, iPads, iPods, Beats headphones and speakers, Macs and MacBooks.

Apple confirmed that customers in the United States “will receive a special edition (RED) iTunes gift card with the purchase of select Apple products” in its retail stores or online on Black Friday.

For each gift card, Apple will donate an unspecified percentage of the sale to the Global Fund to fight AIDS.

The gift cards — $25 for qualifying Beats, Apple TV and iPod products, $50 for qualifying iPhones and iPads, and $100 for qualifying Macs – can be spent at the US iTunes store, Mac App Store, App Store and iBooks store.

Last year, US shoppers spent $57.4 billion over the course of the weekend, according to the National Retail Federation. On average, consumers spent $403, down 4% on the previous year.
