The UK Contractors Group (UKCG), which represents more than 30 of the country’s biggest construction companies, has warned the Chancellor, George Osborne, of “significant contraction and job losses” in 2012-13.

In a submission ahead of this month’s Budget, the UKCG’s chairman, James Wates, argued that public sector cuts will hit the industry hard. He urged Mr Osborne to provide clearer information on plans for energy and education.
