Credit Suisse has said it is investigating allegations of trader misconduct and employees watching online porn during work hours.

One of the Swiss bank’s traders has reportedly been suspended since February, pending an internal investigation into electronic communications, The Wall Street Journal claimed yesterday.

The probe has also reportedly uncovered allegations of traders on the European equities sales desk in London watching pornographic videos and using sexist and racist language.

The female employee is alleged to have improperly shared client information with her husband, a trader at rival bank RBC Capital Markets, via electronic chat rooms.

Her boss has gone on leave in connection with the investigation, according to the reports.

The female employee is also alleged to have complained about some of her colleagues behaving in a lewd manner that was not discouraged by managers.

In a statement Credit Suisse declined to comment on whether it had suspended any employees but said it was investigating the issue.

"With regard to the story published in today's Wall Street Journal, we cannot comment on employee matters under investigation," Credit Suisse said in the statement.

"However, any allegations of this nature are taken very seriously at Credit Suisse."

The people involved declined to comment, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Reuters said the individuals could not be reached for comment.
