Domino's praises the couch potato
The recent bout of rainy weather, combined with the lure of the Euro 2012 soccer championships on television, helped lift profits at Domino's Pizza.
Reporting a 13 per cent rise in interim profits to £21.5m, Britain's biggest pizza delivery firm said like-for-like sales in the UK rose 5.7 per cent over the previous first half. Online sales rose 43.3 per cent to £121.2m.
"We must be one of the few people every day who come in and do rain dances at work," Domino's finance director Lee Ginsberg said. "We love the rain because it keeps people in their homes."
