Industry output is 'collapsing'

UK construction increased by 0.4 per cent in August, compared with July, but declined by 4.1 per cent compared with the same month last year, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Chris Williamson, an economist at Markit, said: "Construction industry output appears to be collapsing...providing further cause to worry about the overall health of the economy." Construction accounts for 7.6 per cent of GDP.
