McDonald's UK eats up profit rise
McDonald's UK grew profits by more than one-third in 2010, driven by a strong rise in demand for its food from new and existing customers.
The fast-food chain, which has 1,200 restaurants, said it served 80 million more punters last year, helped by longer opening hours.
The UK arm of the global giant estimates that 80 per cent of its outlets are open from 6am, with more than 400 operating for 24 hours at least one day a week.
McDonald's UK posted pre-tax profits up 38 per cent to £157m in the 12 months to December, on sales up 5 per cent to £1.2bn. It says it has served 25 million more people in the first quarter of 2011.
