New broom meets the C&WW shareholders
Gavin Darby, the new chief executive at the beleaguered telecoms company Cable & Wireless Worldwide, introduced himself to the firm’s investors last week.
The former Vodafone boss, who started Monday, was keen to reassure them that he can turn the business around. Shares have fallen around 80 per cent since C&WW demerged from Cable & Wireless Communications in 2010, costing his predecessor, John Pluthero, his job.
