Virgin Atlantic has blamed the Office of Fair Trading for "failing to take responsibility for competitiveness in the UK aviation market" after the regulatory body decided not to review the British Airways' owner's deal to buy bmi from Lufthansa.
The consumer watchdog said the European Commission was best placed to review International Airline Group's acquisition of bmi for up to £172.5m, and that there was no need for a separate British review of the deal.
