Powerleague set to expand into Ireland
Powerleague, the UK mainland five-a-side football operator, is set to expand into Ireland by the end of the year.
Commercial director Nigel Hargreaves said that sites had been found in both Dublin and Belfast and that Ireland was "likely to be" the first country that Powerleague will expand into as part of its European growth plans. Currently, Powerleague has about 45 per cent of the market in the UK and hopes to have about 90 sites as the market doubles in size over the next five-to-10 years.
Punch Taverns chief executive Ian Dyson unveils his long awaited strategy review on Tuesday. The pubs group is saddled more than £3bn debt, yet is worth less than £450m. Mr Dyson promised to carry out a thorough review when he took over in September and disgruntled bondholders will be watching for whether he decides to offload lossmaking parts of the estate. Retailers Next, B&Q owner Kingfisher and Ted Baker report their full-year results on Thursday.
