Self-storage group Lok'nStore saw sales tick up 2.2 per cent in the six months to February, as industry rivals put up prices to include VAT after a change in last year's Budget.

Lok'n'Store had already registered for VAT, so its prices were not affected. Occupancy at January 31 was up 6.1 per cent year-on-year, the business added. Chief executive Andrew Jacobs said: "Activity levels across the portfolio have been robust."
