Scottish parliamentarians and the other 580,000 public-sector workers in Scotland will be flying easyJet after the budget airline signed a travel deal in the country.

The contract comes two months after easyJet signed a deal which sees Westminster MPs and Lords using the airline for both constituency and Parliamentary business travel.

Almost a quarter of the working population of Scotland works for the public sector and they will now also be offered easyJet flights when searching for travel options for work flights.

"Although the terms of this deal are obviously commercial," the airline said, meaning travellers will be offered flights on various carriers, "easyJet's flexible fares tend to be over £200 cheaper than their BA equivalent."

Last year 10,000 flights were booked for the Scottish public sector.
