Google’s culture and the level of trust given to its employees have seen it named the best place to work in the UK, according to worker feedback.

The web giant was closely followed by fellow tech behemoth Microsoft, which is the third best place to work.

Upmarket stores also scored well, with employee-owned John Lewis claiming second place; Knightsbridge icon Harrods coming in at 12, and Waitrose at 22.

And management consultancy Accenture and car maker Jaguar Land Rover found themselves in the top five.

To compile its seventh annual top 25-list, UK jobs website Glassdoor used insight and feedback given by its users over the past year.

Thousands of users were asked to rate their overall satisfaction with the company, the CEO’s leadership skills, whether they’d recommend the firm to a friend, as well as career opportunities, workplace benefits, culture and values, and work-life balance.

Meanwhile, Glassdoor’s top 50 Best Places to Work in the US celebrated: Bain & Co, Twitter, LinkedIn, Eastman Chemical, and Facebook.
