Leading industrialists have been invited to a high-level Advanced Manufacturing Growth Summit at the department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) on 25 January to discuss how to boost the UK's manufacturing economy.

Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, and Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, will attend along with executives from some of the UK's biggest companies including Rolls-Royce, Nissan, Toyota, Land Rover Jaguar and other high-tech manufacturers as well as the CBI, the Automotive Council and other trade bodies.

The Business and Enterprise minister, Mark Prisk, will chair the session, which will debate what policies should be adopted to improve the UK's manufacturing base and to identify barriers to growth. Feedback will go to BIS's advanced manufacturing review which will report back in time for the 2011 Budget.
