Sir Philip Green, owner of the retail group Arcadia, is to launch his Topshop and Topman brands into US department stores.

Topshop and Topman ranges will be sold in 14 Nordstrom shops from 10 September, with some limited-edition pieces created just for the American company. Nordstrom has 231 branches in 31 states.

Sir Philip said of his first tie-up with a large US retailer: "I believe Topshop and Topman offer the Nordstrom customer something very different and unique with our signature British fashion authority. With new pieces being delivered from our design team on … a weekly basis, the ability to buy fresh, must-have looks every time a customer visits is key to our brands' point of difference."

The tycoon launched his first standalone Topshop store in New York in 2009, with others following in Chicago and Las Vegas. He has previously said he wants 15 to 20 flagship stores open across the country.
