Zayn Malik solo material 'will be released through Simon Cowell's label'

Reports suggest deal was made to allow him out of the band's contract early

Zayn Malik will reportedly release any future solo material through Simon Cowell’s Syco label following an agreement made allowing him to leave his contract with One Direction early.

A source described as an “insider” told The Sun that Cowell struck a deal with Malik allowing him to leave the contract prematurely by ensuring any debut material is released through his label.

The 22-year-old is already working on new material with producer Naughty Boy, the mastermind behind Sam Smith’s Grammy-winning debut album.

"Simon was very understanding about him leaving the band but quickly made it clear he would stay a Syco artist for his future projects,” the source was quoted as saying.

"He'll now be able to make sure any releases are timed so they don't clash with anything by One Direction."

The singer revealed his reasons for leaving the band in his first interview since quitting band, telling the newspaper he’s “never felt more in control” of his own life in a discussion six hours before the news broke.

“And I feel like I’m doing what’s right — right by myself and right by the boys, so I feel good,” he said.

His departure broke the hearts of Directioners across the world and saw hundreds of people requesting compassionate leave.
