My, but you are a conspiratorial lot. Some responded kindly to my request that you complete a survey into your news interests. But I need to disappoint others: Elvis is dead, the Royal Family are not shape-shifting aliens and we really do not plan to change i.

As I wrote, we have all come together so quickly, you lovely readers and i, that we want to learn more about you. Clearly you are interested in serious news, and not that interested in celebrity gossip. That said, it is not entirely clear what your views are, for example, on subjects ranging from the Royal Family (more pro than our sister paper The Independent?), to the fashion industry (I suspect you are interested in different styles to The Independent’s readers).

It’s as innocent as that. So again, the link is www.independent.co.uk/isurvey. Thank you in advance. I promise we will keep it confidential and not share anything with third parties. And, there are no plans to put up the price! Meanwhile, the newspaper industry’s ABCs (circulation figures) for January were published yesterday. i is the only daily paper which is up year on year, But that’s only half the story.

We are proud to say that i’s headline figure was 243,321, a 9.7 per cent increase over December and a whopping 82.3 per cent up on January 2011, our first official figure. This latest figure includes what the trade terms “ bulks”, copies sold at a discount to organisations such as British Airways, where we have encouraged a first-time trial of i. Our UK newsstand sale for January was 196,176: 15.1 per cent up on December and a stunning 56.1 per cent up on January 2011.

Thank you to all our readers, new and old-ish. If you have any trouble obtaining a copy please let us know at i@independent.co.uk. See you on Monday.
