Every Sunday morning I spend an hour checking independent.co.uk, Twitter and Facebook to get an early idea of the reaction to the paper's biggest stories. Sometimes I'll tweet a link to something I think will particularly capture the imagination, or a gem from The New Review supplement or the Money section that might otherwise not receive much attention.
And, as you might expect, there's plenty of comment. A recent Independent on Sunday political poll, which revealed that Ukip is the nation's "favourite" party, was shared more than 10,000 times, and sparked 784 comments online. And plenty of people have something to say when the front-page image is flashed up on their Twitter feed (not all of it complimentary!).
There has always been a letters page, of course, but now there's a more detailed, scientific way for me to find out about you and your tastes and, more importantly, for you to tell me how you want The Independent on Sunday to develop. What do you turn to first, and why? Who are your favourite writers? Are there specific topics you'd like us to address? What do you think of our front pages? Would you like a regular editor's letter, or would you like me to shut up so that you can get on with reading the news?
It's a sort of readers' panel, called IndyViews. Adam Joseph, our Strategic Insights Manager, is very experienced at gathering your feedback and wider market research. He has now made a website, indyViews.org, where you can easily sign up to join our panel. As a member, you can complete occasional surveys at your convenience, with opportunities to collect rewards for participation. There are more details on the website.
Please do get involved, this is your chance to influence the paper. Thank you.
