The Cove adults only area is an elegant interpretation of a luxury outdoor retreat. It features two pools, a sunset fire pit, tapas restaurant and 10 villas.

Cocooned in a tropical garden setting, there is an azure palette that sets a relaxing tone. Comfortable cushions and bean bags are scattered across day beds and decking.

The pools resemble giant hot tubs which wouldn't look out of place in a Hollywood Hills mansion.

An old boat has been niftily transformed into a maritime themed bar and high chairs are perfect for soaking up the sun over a cocktail.

The villas, which feel like modern beach retreats, are set in a duplex design and feature the resort's trademark open air tropical en suite.

In addition to The Cove, the resort features a separate restaurant and pool area next to a pretty beach which offers all tide swimming. The coral is very impressive. You can swim straight out from the hotel and embark on excellent snorkelling without the need for an extra boat trip.

Head to the PADI dive shop to arrange diving, game fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkelling equipment, day trips and adventure activities.

With an air conditioned gym, kids club, teen tent and a day spa, there is something for everyone.

It is also worth noting that the food at Paradise Cove is excellent. Ingredients are sourced from the local farmers and there is an inventive menu. The resort grows much of its own fruits, with pawpaw, pineapple, bananas, mango, passion fruit and an extensive array of herbs and vegetables. Opt for a meal plan (around £207 daily) which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are options for vegetarians and food allergies or gluten intolerances are considered.

Once you reach Nadi, the quickest way to reach Paradise Cove is by seaplane. Turtle Airways will send a driver to meet you at the airport and then take you to the seaplane HQ which is a short drive away. A magnificent half an hour seaplane journey will offer breathtaking views and a James Bond style arrival. Prices start from FJD $380 (£140) one way and can be booked on turtleairways.com.

If you are island hopping there is also the option of the Yasawa Flyer which costs around £65 per person and departs Denarau Marina daily, stopping off once a day at the resort.
