50 Cent showcases brand new mansion in Africa weeks after filing for bankruptcy
The rapper promised to have a 'crazy' house warming when work is completed
50 Cent has boasted about building a new mansion in Africa on Instagram, just weeks after he filed for bankruptcy in the US.
The rapper, real name Curtis Jackson, filed for bankruptcy three days after he was ordered to pay Lastonia Leviston $7 million in total for posting a sex tape of her and her former boyfriend online in 2008.
After filing for bankruptcy, 50 Cent claimed his Lamborghinis and other super cars were rented, his jewellery was borrowed and he only made 10 cents per record, claiming his seemingly lavish lifestyle was just "entertainment".
In May, Forbes estimated his net worth at $155 million, while he was previously named one of the world’s richest rappers after his keeping his minority stake in Vitamin Water, which was later acquired by Coca-Cola for $4.1 billion.
The 40-year-old, who recently appeared in the film South Paw, shared a video on his Instagram account of a large property, complete with a swimming pool and a caption promising to have a “crazy” party when work was finished.
“My crib is almost finished in AFRICA.” he wrote. “I’m gonna have the craziest house warming party ever. I'll explain later ;) I got a good life man.”
US Bankruptcy records show 50 Cent spends $72,000 on his 18 bedroom mansion in Connecticut each month, according to The New York Post.
It is not yet known where in Africa his property is located. The Independent has contacted his representatives for comment.
