Alec Baldwin in court: Judge tells actor to 'be a good boy from now on'

The judge gave him an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal

Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin has refused to apologise in regards to an incident that resulted in a disorderly conduct arrest in May.

The It’s Complicated actor reportedly told a Manhattan judge he would prefer to pay a fine rather than apologise over the encounter, in which police stopped him for riding a bicycle the wrong way down a one-way street.

According to the New York Daily News, Judge John Delury advised Baldwin to “be a good boy from now on” and gave him an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal.

There are conflicting reports over how the actor handled the altercation which took place on Fifth Avenue – one onlooker said that he remained “calm and quiet”, while another said that he “went ballistic on the cops, screaming at them”.

Baldwin was taken to a nearby police station. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that he was “belligerent” towards officers while in custody, resulting in him receiving a ticket for disorderly conduct – as a well as a fine for riding the wrong way.

Following his judgement on Thursday, Judge Delury, who had earlier remarked that Baldwin seemed to have a “short fuse”, asked the actor: “Can you stay out of trouble, Alexander?”

To which Baldwin replied: “Sure, sure.”

Another well-known actor also appeared at a Manhattan court on Thursday. Shia LaBeouf is charged with disrupting a Broadway performance.

LaBeouf's lawyer and prosecutors say they were trying to resolve his case. He's due back in court on 10 September.
