BB King dies: Watch Blues legend sing 'Sweet Home Chicago' with Barack Obama

Following the death of the 'King of Blues', BB King, it's worth remembering the time the great guitarist managed to get President Barack Obama to sing with him at the White House.

Getting a sitting President to showcase their musical talents is not an easy task, especially after George W Bush was much derided for his awful attempt at dancing and playing the drums with a West African dance company.

Yet Obama could not say no to the legend that was BB King, especially given that the blues man was singing about Obama's home town in Illinois.

Back in 2012, Obama hosted a Red, White & Blues event, featuring BB King alongside Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger and Gary Clark Jr. As Obama exited the event at the end of the night, Buddy Guy told the President that he wanted him to sing along to "Sweet Home Chicago", given that he had recently sung an Al Green number to great applause.

"You can do it!" chimed BB King, before Jagger handed the mic to the President.

King, known for hits such as Sweet Black Angel and Rock Me Baby, died at 9.40pm in his Las Vegas home at the age of 89.

He was recently admitted to hospital with high blood pressure and a diabetes-related illness, having lived with the illness for over 30 years and often campaigned for greater awareness of the disease.
