R&B star Chris Brown has been ordered to spend an additional 131 days in jail by a California court after admitting to violating the terms of his probation.

Los Angeles judge James R. Brandlin formally sentenced the troubled singer to a full year in jail, but gave him credit for the 234 days he has spent in rehab and jail, effectively reducing his sentence to 131 days.

Brown's lawyer told CNN he expects the 25-year old to be released from custody within the next week after spending two months in jail over alleged violations of his rehab sentence.

"If he isn't out by Monday, then I would expect he's getting special treatment. He's got over 230 days credit on a 365 (sentence) and generally the sheriff is releasing on a lot less than that," lawyer Mark Geragos said after the hearing on Friday.

Brown has been on probation since 2009 after he pleaded guilty to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna. His latest probation violation relates to an altercation in Washington DC last year where the rapper was charged with a misdemeanor after a man accused him and his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, of punching him outside a hotel.
