Christopher Lee was remembered by people across the world after the news of his death broke.

Having played so many different roles in his lifetime - from Frankenstein in a Hammer Horror film, to Scaramanga in The Man With The Golden Gun, as well as Lord Summerisle in The Wicker Man... But instead some have chosen to remember him for a role he never played, Gandalf in Lord of the Rings.

Ian McKellen played the good wizard in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, while Lee was given the part of villain Saruman.

Much like when people rushed to be the first on their timeline to mourn the passing of Nelson Mandela but ended up tweeting a picture of Morgan Freeman instead, Twitter has outdone itself.
