David Bowie’s son has announced he is going to be a father in a tweet paying tribute to the late singer one month after his death.

Duncan Jones told his father that he was going to be a grandparent in December with a card and moving drawing referencing the circle of life. Jones shared a picture of the card on Twitter, where he said his baby is due in June.

Bowie passed away 18 months after being diagnosed with liver cancer. He kept his diagnosis a secret from everyone except close friends and family. Even those working on projects with him in the weeks before he died were completely unaware of his condition and expressed their shock at learning he had been so gravely ill.

Jones is married to Rodene Ronquillo. His wife has survived breast cancer and was diagnosed with cancer on the day they married in 2013, according to The Huffington Post.

He has been flooded with messages of congratulations from well-wishers, with one praising his wife’s strength after going through so much. “She has,” he replied. “She’s amazing!”

The news was welcomed by Bowie’s supermodel wife Iman, who sent her blessings in an Instagram post shortly after the announcement

Iman also shared an emotional post quoting Rune Lazuli: “Each tear is a poet, a healer, a teacher.”

Jones, 44, left social media temporarily after confirming Bowie’s death aged 69, before returning to share a moving thank you letter from a palliative care doctor.
