Ed Miliband has been named as only the fourth most powerful person in Doncaster - lagging behind local politicians and One Direction pop star Louis Tomlinson.

The Doncaster Free Press listed who they believe are the top 50 most important people in the city (??), and only put the man who hopes to become Prime Minister in May at number four.

The paper, which describes the ranking as "by no means scientific", says that Miliband's position was actually two up from last year, meaning that he was ranked as just number six in 2014.

Miliband, MP for Doncaster North, will probably be hoping for a bigger endorsement than that from voters in May.

Singer Tomlinson took a tumble from his number two perch in 2014, and came in at number three. Still one place above the man who could be poised to lead the country.

Mayor Ros Jones topped the list, while Council Chief Jo Miller was number two.

One place below Miliband was editor-in-chief of South Yorkshire newspapers, Chris Burton.
