Ellen Albertini Dow, the woman who won plaudits for her incredible version of "Rapper's Delight", has passed away aged 101 on Monday.

Dow performed in television programmes such as Scrubs, Six Feet Under, Star Trek: The Next Generation, New Girl and The Golden Girls. She also played a chorister in Sister Act.

She also had a role in The Wedding Crashers.

While the Adam Sandler film The Wedding Singer might have greatly benefited from her cover of the Sugarhill Gang's hit, Dow was more than just a comedy granny.

She worked as a producer for 19 years of the Albertini Mime Players, and was also an acting coach.

Dow attended Cornell University, from which she graduated in 1935.
