Emily Blunt reads mean tweet on Jimmy Kimmel Live which criticises her 'horrendous' British accent
Andrew Garfield, Salma Hayek and Jack Black also took part in the popular talk show feature
Emily Blunt may have just become a US citizen but her accent still betrays her Britishness, much to the annoyance of one Twitter user.
On Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live show, the actress read out a tweet that made specific reference to her “horrendous” British accent, that read: “Emily Blunt’s eyes make up for that horrendous sound that comes out of her mouth #britishaccent”.
The 32-year-old took the comment in jest before Salma Hayek, Andrew Garfield and Jack Black followed to receive their insults.
The tweet comes after Blunt received criticism from Fox news presenter Anna Kooiman, for comments she made about becoming an American citizen.
Blunt apologised last week for joking about regretting her US citizenship after she watched the first round of the GOP debate and said: “I’m not entirely thrilled about [my US citizenship]… It was sad! I like being British.”
Kooiman responded to Blunt, saying: “Well you know what, why don’t you leave Hollywood, California and let some of the American women take the roles that you’re getting.”
Blunt, who was born in London, is married to the US version of the Office actor John Kransinski. The couple have a daughter called Hazel.
All this week, celebrities have read mean tweets about themselves live on TV, with highlights coming from Benedict Cumberbatch and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
