Google has revealed some of the most searched for names throughout the year

Caitlyn Jenner was one of many prominent figures who made 2015 a landmark year for LGBT rights after unveiling her transition on the cover of Vanity Fair. She has become an advocate for trans issues and continues to document her journey on her blog and through her reality TV series.

Lamar Odom, the ex-partner of Jenner’s step-daughter Khloe Kardashian, was one of the ten most searched for names after being face down and unresponsive at the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal. He was hospitalised and placed on life support but later regained consciousness and is now continuing in his recovery.

Ronda Rousey was rarely out of Google’s top searches in 2015 because of her incredible MMA fighting skills and her outspoken views on Floyd Mayweather, feminism and body image.

Ruby Rose burst onto the screens as a new love interest on Orange is the New Black and quickly emerged one of the show's most popular characters. Rose became an advocate of the gender fluid movement, was lauded for her stint presenting the MTV EMAS and split with her partner of two years, Phoebe Dahl, this week, all of which ensured she was a trending search.

Charlie Sheen was effectively forced into revealing his HIV status in November. He chose to do so with a candid interview on NBC’s Today show describing the effect his diagnosis in 2011 and has had on his life. The interview and speculation beforehand that he was the unnamed actor in a tabloid report on the story made him a trending search on Google.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump was rarely out of the headlines. HIs increasingly controversial campaign ensured he dominated Google’s trending list - and will most likely continue to do so in 2016.
