For his new movie Southpaw, Jake Gyllenhall undertook a brutal training regime that involved doing 2,000 press-ups a day for eight months.

But if you thought he was a total gym bore, sprinkling protein powder on everything and ditching unhealthy food, think again.

Jake Gyllenhaal said in an interview with Magic FM that when he’s in the UK he likes nothing more than popping into Greggs.

“I eat Greggs, Greggs baguettes – that’s what I eat when I’m in London,” he said. “If it’s sunny, I just find a green spot and sit. That’s what I do when I’m here.”

Greggs wasted no time in getting in on the joke, tweeting a picture of Gyllenhaal in the ring with a giant cheesy baguette held towards his open mouth.

Considering Gyllenhaal’s role as a ferocious man-mountain, the idea of him quietly sitting in a park eating a chicken club baguette and composing his thoughts is quite a calming one.

Yes, Southpaw is a pretty violent film, and you can literally see Gyllenhaal's Hulk-like veins bursting from his arms as he’s pummelling his opponent.

But if he actually likes nothing more than a quiet moment’s reflection with a steak bake and a slice of caramel shortbread then, well, there's something quite calming about that.
