James Corden will reportedly receive an OBE in the New Year honours list.

The royal household declined to comment on the speculation.

Corden will be recognised for his services to the entertainment industry, according to The Sun.

“James Corden is a huge young talent on many different fronts,” a Buckingham Palace source told The Sun.

“His charitable work is also very impressive, making him a fantastic ambassador for the nation.”

The comedian and actor co-wrote and starred in Gavin and Stacey, for which he won a BAFTA in 2008 for Best Male Comedy Performance. The show also received BAFTA's Audience Award for Programme of the Year.

His film credits include Lesbian Vampire Killers, The History Boys and One Chance and he will also appear in forthcoming musical Into The Woods, alongside Meryl Streep and Jonny Depp.

He also starred in West End and Broadway productions of One Man, Two Governors, for which he received critical acclaim. He also performed in the theatre version of The History Boys in 2006. Corden has presented the Brit Awards on numerous occasions.

In March 2015, the actor will replace Craig Ferguson as CBS chat show host on The Late Late Show, which is expected to see his US profile rise considerably.

The Sun also reports that Joan Collins will be made a dame after 60 years in the industry.
