Forget the Mayweather vs Pacquiao boxing match, the real fight took place between Jamie Foxx and the American national anthem.

The actor and singer’s rendition of “Star-Spangled Banner” was criticised for having more twists and turns than the fight after Foxx attempted the high notes with varying degrees of success.

Sporting a cream satin tuxedo jacket, the singer was introduced as a “multi-talented entertainment superstar” to the millions tuning in around the world.

The Django Unchained star soon came under fire on social media for “killing” the National Anthem, with Foxx’s name trending on Twitter.

Judge for yourselves what you make of Foxx’s version, featuring an impromptu “halleluiah” at the end.

Foxx wasn’t the only target on social media following the much-hyped boxing match at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Many spectators tweeted to say the anticipated fight was “boring” and had been somewhat wasted after Mayweather’s defensive display earned him the victory.
