Kim Jong-un 'does a Pharrell' in bid to hide his questionable haircut

The North Korean political leader wears a strange straw boat to possibly mask his contentious hair

It worked for Pharrell, so maybe it could work for Kim Jong-un.

The North Korean political leader wore a straw boater hat with coordinating brown trim, as he surveyed a construction site in Pyongyang, a fortnight after a building collapsed in the city killing an unknown number of people.

Pharrell’s statement fedora helped his popularity soar, so perhaps Jong-un is thinking along the same lines. Or maybe he’s had enough of his severe haircut being pored over and is trying to hide it.

The ‘Un’ involves shaven back and sides with a high-top fade. In March, it was reported that men living in North Korea were required to have the same unusual haircut as their leader.

In April, North Korean officials paid a visit to a salon in Ealing, London, after it used a picture of the leader as an example for bad hair. They began questioning the advert, but were shown the door by staff.

The country has a history of state-approved hairdos and list issued a list of 10 sanctioned socialist styles last year.
