A level results 2016: Jeremy Clarkson rallies students disappointed with their grades with his own poor results

For any A-level students disappointed in their results, do not fear: Jeremy Clarkson is back again to remind you that, as he has demonstrated, results are not a prerequisite for fame and fortune.

The former Top Gear host walked away from his school with a C and two Us, grades which evidently did not hamper his success and wealth accumulation.

As eager students ripped open their results to see if they achieved the grades needed for their desired university, the entry requirements for a new job or to see if their hard work paid off, Clarkson tweeted his 6.35 million followers from a super yacht in the Mediterranean.

The tweet now appears to be a tradition, or public service if you will, as the 56-year-old sent a similar message last year from a villa in the luxurious french resort of St Tropez.

Clarkson, who is estimated to be worth more than £30 million, worked as a journalist before fronting Top Gear. The motoring series became the BBC’s most lucrative television programme, bringing the corporation more than £50million a year.

Even when Clarkson was infamously sacked by the BBC following a “fracas” with one of the show’s producers, he continued to go on and make more money when he, Richard Hammond and James May signed a deal with Amazon Prime to front The Grand Tour. Clarkson reportedly signed on to earn £10million per series with the streaming service.
