A 21-year-old man has accidentally drowned in a swimming pool of a Los Angeles home owned by Demi Moore, a coroner has ruled.

The man, whose name has not yet been released while next of kin are informed, was discovered in at the swimming pool of the Beverly Hills home on Oak Pass Road at 5.30am (1.30pm UK time) on Sunday. He was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Los Angeles Police Department said Ms Moore, 52, was not home at the time of the tragedy, and the man was not a relative. Sources told celebrity news website TMZ the man had slipped and fell into the pool, but did not know how to swim.

None of Ms Moore's family, including her three daughters were home at the time of the incident. But a neighbour told TMZ that the family has been hosting numerous "parties every day, day and night."

Representatives for Ms Moore have so far not commented on the situation.
