Chace Crawford won't face marijuana charges
Charges against Chace Crawford for marijuana possession have been dropped.
The 'Gossip Girl' star was arrested when he was a passenger in a parked car in the Dallas suburb of Plano last May and charged with misdemeanour possession of less than two ounces of the drug, but a judge yesterday dismissed the charges yesterday.
In April, it was revealed the actor's lawyer made a deal with prosecutors in order to get the case dropped and ensure he did not get a criminal record.
Included among the conditions are that he can't be arrested or engage in any criminal conduct for a year, must complete at least 24 hours of community service and report to a probation officer once a month.
Chace's lawyer presented evidence in court that his client has performed 80 hours of community service in Texas, working in a hospital and a church.
The 26-year-old actor was returning from Mexico where he had been spending time with his sister Candice when he was arrested and had faced six months in jail or a fine of up to $2,000 if found guilty.
