It’s was all going so well for Jared Leto.

He won an Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club, his band 30 Seconds To Mars were nominated at the Grammys, he’s been linked to every up-and-coming actress under the sun.

All of that could be enough to give even the most grounded individual a bit of a swollen head. But few would go as far as to compare themselves to the Son of God.

While Leto isn’t claiming he has the power to create a world-changing new monotheist religion, feed the five thousand or turn water into wine, he does admit that he and Jesus belong in the same clique of “classic looks”.

Posting the above picture on Instagram, he wrote: “Haaaa! Fashion may go out of style but style never goes out of fashion. #ClassicLooks #FashionForward #ThanksJC #NotComparingToChrist xo”

We’re glad he’s noticed, as we were actually the first to point out the star’s uncanny resemblance to the religious icon when he sported flowing, regal locks at the Oscars on 2 March.

We’re also glad he’s decided to take the whole ‘Spreading the message of peace’ thing seriously, too.

Leto and his band played in Ukraine last week, and dedicated the show to the protestors involved in the widespread unrest that has gripped the capital city of Kiev over the last few months.

“You guys are in the midst of something really beautiful and it may be difficult, but there's no price too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself,” he said during the show.

“And I want to let you know, I understand other bands have cancelled their shows, but there was no f***ing way, no f***ing way, 30 Seconds to Mars wasn't going to be here in this beautiful city, in this great country here tonight.”

Now all we need to see are some loaves and fishes, and we’ll be really impressed.
