Noel Gallagher seeks permission for summer house

Rock star Noel Gallagher has applied for planning permission to build a summer house in the grounds of his home.

Gallagher, who quit Oasis last summer, said in the application that the octagonal building would be for "occasional use" by family.

A planning application sent to Chiltern District Council says the wooden building with a thatched roof will blend in with trees and shrubs to create "a refuge in the garden" of his home in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire.

The design and access statement submitted as part of the application said: "The summer house is solely for the use of the family for the enjoyment of their gardens."

The building would be just under six metres wide and just over four metres tall at the peak of its roof.

The application has been validated by Chiltern District Council and is now waiting for consideration.

The council hopes to make a decision on the plans by April 15.

Gallagher blamed his brother Liam for his decision to quit Oasis in August, saying he "simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer".

Liam Gallagher later said the band was "no longer".

(What's the Story) Morning Glory? won the best album of the past 30 years at the Brit Awards earlier this month and Liam Gallagher, who collected the trophy, thanked a series of people but failed to mention Noel.

Oasis were also nominated for three NME awards last week - best British band, best video for Falling Down and best live event for their Heaton Park gig - but ended the night empty-handed.
