What do you buy a newborn that is going to want for very little?

That's the task bequeathed upon governments around the world following the birth of Princess .

Australia has sent a cot blanket woven at the country’s oldest weaving mill, Waverly Woollen Mills, made from Tasmanian merino wool. It will be embroidered with the Australian floral emblem, the wattle.

New Zealand gifted a selection of woollen baby items from the Hutt Valley company, which made costumes for the Lord of the Rings films. A pelt teddy bear is another of the gifts being sent.

The country’s premier, John Key, said: “On behalf of the people of New Zealand I would like to congratulate Prince William, Catherine and Prince George on this wonderful news.”

The Ottawa branch of the Canadian Monarchist League has sent a pair of sealskin moccasins for the new princess.

Prince George received hundreds of gifts after he was born, including a customised skateboard, bucket and spade and a possum skin cloak.
