Media mogul Simon Cowell is believed to be expecting a child with his friend's estranged wife, according to reports.

Mr Cowell, 53, is understood to have had a relationship with Lauren Silverman, the wife of real estate executive Andrew Silverman.

US Weekly reported last week that Mrs Silverman is approximately ten weeks pregnant with Mr Cowell's child and is now officially separated from her husband. Mr Silverman has since filed for divorce, a Daily Mail article said.

Mrs Silverman's mother has also confirmed her daughter is pregnant, the article added.

Mr Cowell's mother Julie said she was "delighted" at the "wonderful news" during an interview with The Sun but the X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent judge has refused to confirm or deny reports.

Photos have since emerged showing Mr Cowell holidaying aboard a yacht with Mr and Mrs Silverman in St Barts in January 2012. The couple have a seven-year-old child together.

The office for Mr Cowell's Los Angeles lawyer said: "We have no comment."
