Tulisa Contostavlos’s trusted personal assistant Gareth Varey has been arrested on suspicion of supplying cocaine

He was also arrested for the possession of cannabis.

The 28-year-old was questioned by police at a Central London police station at 3.45pm yesterday, before he travelled back to the north London home he shares with the singer.

“Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in Barnet on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of cannabis,” Scotland Yard said in a statement.

The police went on to confirm that his questioning was part of an ongoing investigation.

The arrest is the latest in a string of legal troubles plaguing Contostavlos’s friends and family.

Last week, her cousin Dappy Contostavlos was arrested and charged with assault after a fight outside a nightclub in Essex.

Contostavlos herself appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on assault charges after she was accused of attacking a celebrity blogger at V Festival, Chelmsford in 2013.

The X Factor judge made her first appearance at Southwark crown court in London accused of brokering a £860 cocaine deal in January.

Her trial is expected to take place on 14 July – the day after her 26th birthday.

Contostavlos has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
