Royal baby: Duchess and Duke of Cambridge hint at future princess with delivery of gender specific pastries to fans outside the Lindo Wing

Yes, there are still people lining the streets outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London in eager anticipation of the birth of the second royal baby, despite the fact that he or she is now five days past their due date.

And they haven’t gone unnoticed by the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge, who sent well wishers a special sweet delivery from Kensington Palace, presumably to prevent famine setting in on site.

Among the sniffer dogs and police assembled, luxury pastries were drafted directly to the tents of fans.

But it seems the royal family may have also delivered a special message to supporters.

“Two men arrived with a box of these wonderful pastries and said they were from the palace as a gift from the Duke and Duchess to say thank you for our support,” Kathy Martin, 50, from Beckenham told PA.

“It was really special - and we noticed straight away that they were wrapped in pink ribbons. We think it's a sign they are having a girl.”

“It was just so thoughtful and kind and it shows how grateful they are for our support,” Amy Thompson, a misguided teen camping alongside her mother outside the hospital, said.

She added that she was “touched” by the gesture.
