US rapper “The Game” has been arrested in connection with an incident in which he allegedly punched an off-duty police officer at a basketball game in March.

The 35-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, surrendered at the Los Angeles police department’s Hollywood division at midday on Monday, officer Mike Lopez said.

Lopez said Taylor was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats. He posted a $50,000 bail about an hour later.

The incident, in which Taylor allegedly threw a punch at the officer three months ago, was caught on camera and posted online.

Taylor, from Compton, California, is a well-known figure in the West Coast hip hop scene. A protégé of Dr Dre, Taylor has been nominated for two Grammys for single ‘Hate It or Love It’ featuring 50 Cent, and won two Ozone Awards for the Best West Coast Rap Album for both Doctor’s Advocate and The Game.
