The Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm has hit out at Internet users who criticise her for being too “skinny”.

The Australian model posted an image of herself in workout clothes on Instagram alongside a lengthy caption asking followers to stop “skinny shaming”.

She wrote: “I am extremely fit and healthy and not in the slightest way anorexic. I have worked hard to look like this and am proud of my body.

“I may not be the curviest but I am a woman who has every right to look the way I do.”

She also questioned why some followers “feel the need to shame strangers over the Internet about their bodies.”

Malcolm, 23, recently walked in the annual Victoria’s Secret catwalk show in New York.

Prior to the show, fellow model Magdalena Frackowiak refused to answer questions from a TMZ reporter who asked if the models had starved themselves ahead of the show.

She told the reporter: "You make me look like an idiot – it seems like I’m starving myself and I can’t wait for the show to end and eat.”

Gigi Hadid, who walked in her first show for the lingerie brand earlier this month, took to Instagram in October to hit out at those criticising her body.

In an open letter she wrote: “Your mean comments don’t make me want to change my body, they don’t make me want to say no to the designers that ask me to be in their shows… If I didn't have the body I do, I wouldn’t have the career I do.”
