Jennifer Lawrence is an actress admired by many.

But none so much as Texan-born Kitty, a woman who took her obsessive fandom to the next level by paying upwards of $25,000 on extensive plastic surgery in order to look exactly like her.

The 30-year-old dog trainer and mother of one has undergone six fairly extreme procedures so far, and cites her child as the reason she’s decided to mould her face in Lawrence’s likeness.

"Post having my daughter, I wasn’t quite as comfortable with my body," she said on ABC show Nightline.

"I am a strong woman... I am in charge of how I look and I can change that and then change that again if I want.

"I'm not trying to look like Pamela Anderson here during her 'Baywatch' days. I'm trying to look like a very capable, very personal level-headed female who is an Academy Award winner."

So far, Kitty has had a breast augmentation, liposuction to areas of her face and body, rhinoplasty, and fat grafts to plump out her cheeks and her behind.

Her husband Eric, however, was unconvinced that she should ever have gone through with the surgeries.

"Jennifer Lawrence isn’t a celebrity that I have particularly strong feelings about one way or another," he said. "It’s totally her choice."

As for how she managed to stump up the $25,000 needed to go through with it, Kitty said that she "saved from a previous job".

"It was sort of a ‘me fund’. My child’s only five and I’m still just barely 30 so I think I still feel like maybe it’s naiveté but I still have some time to rack up some money to help her when the time comes."

Apparently, she was also given a discount on her surgery by sharing the story on television.

Dr. Franklin Rose, Kitty’s surgeon, added that he assesses the mental health of patients who do request such dramatic procedures before they go ahead.

"By this point in my career, after evaluating 14-15,000 new consultations, you can tell very quickly within a matter of a minute if the patient is well adjusted or not well adjusted for whatever the procedure they might present," Rose told Nightline.

And wanting to look like a famous person isn’t a particularly unusual request he hears, either.

"Patients come in wanting to have lips like Angelina Jolie, breasts like Scarlett Johansson, Megan Fox," he said.

Towards the end of the programme, and after several weeks of healing, Lawrence dressed up to reveal her new look for the first time.

"Of course I look like Jennifer Lawrence," Kitty concluded.

"I thought I had a resemblance to Jennifer Lawrence before my surgery and now I think after, my features are more refined to where they resemble her more."

But her story would no doubt horrify Lawrence, who is vocal about her quest to hold the media more accountable for its role in portraying positive body images to young women.

In particular, she cited her Hunger Games character Katniss Everdeen as a chance for Hollywood to give adolescents a more realistic lead.

"When we were doing the first The Hunger Games, it was a big discussion, 'cause it's called The Hunger Games - she's from District 12, she's obviously underfed, so she would be incredibly thin. But, I just kept saying, 'We have the ability to control this image that young girls are going to be seeing.'

"Girls see enough of this body that we can't imitate, that we'll never be able to obtain, these unrealistic expectations, and this is gonna be their hero, and we have control over that."

She also called for the word 'fat' to be made illegal.

Lawrence won the Best Actress Academy Award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook in 2013. She is set to hit the big screen again in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, which will be released on 22 May across the UK.
