You'd think Zac Goldsmith would learn from the incumbent mayor, or any politician for that matter, as to how easily Twitter Q&As can quickly go awry.

The weekly #askBoris sessions often devolve into farce with users competing to ask the most inane questions.

But like many politicians, Mr Goldsmith has apparently not learnt from the man he hopes to succeed and stepped into the Twitter ring on Friday morning for an #askZac special. While a number of sensible questions about rent control, tackling pollution and other relevant issues were posed, others veered very far off topic.

The Conservative candidate for Mayor of London’s considerable wealth, privilege and background were all of up for ridicule alongside the inevitable Saved by the Bell-themed digs.

Mr Goldsmith was recently mocked for appearing out of touch by failing to answer a number of trivia questions about the capital he wishes to preside over. The latest polls suggest Labour candidate Sadiq Khan has a 10-point lead over Mr Goldsmith.
